Fulfillment Center

"Fulfillment Center" - isn't that a great name? That's the technical term for a place which puts things in boxes and sends them out (i.e., it "fulfills" the orders). But it totally sounds like a New Age clinic in California, full of yogi's or Lubavitch rabbi's teaching enlightment. If someone could pack that in a box they'd make a fortune.

Anyway, we've decided to go with the tan design, based on feedback from customers and business partners alike. I'll post the full PDF as soon as it's available. Thanks for your comments!

Stuck On You

Some of our more observant online customers have noticed that we've been giving away a free prize in each shipment of pasta - this stylish yet functional magnet:

Use it to hang pictures, notes, or grocery lists on your fridge today (and remember to put FiberGourmet on there!).

Some people were asking about the "Light Crackers" line on there. When we were designing the magnets, we thought we would have the crackers ready by the time they were printed up. Unfortunately, we ran into some production difficulties, and the crackers aren't quite ready just yet. Sorry :(

We also made up a great game here at the office. Stand a few feet back from the fridge and try to toss the magnet so that it sticks. It's harder than it sounds, but I found that an underhand toss usually works pretty well. For added fun, you can paint on a bullseye target, and see who can get a higher score.

For more magnets, keep on ordering! :)

So THAT'S What They Do

Check out the Conan O'Brien skit from July 18, where he tags along with a UPS driver for a day. Comedy gold.

By the way, if any of our customers had Conan deliver one of our packages to them please let me know!

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... pasta?

On the Saving Dinner webcast, it's FiberGourmet to the rescue! I like hearing nice things about my products, and transcribing them too, so here's a quote from Leanne:

It saved me from taking pasta off the list - you know how lethal pasta is ... You know I like Dreamfields and the Barilla Plus stuff, but that's child play compared to this. This is called FiberGourmet, and it has 20 grams of fiber. Hellooo? 20g of fiber, 130 calories, and it tastes 100 times better than whole wheat pasta (which tastes like boiled carboard). This. Stuff. Is. The. BOMB

I love it! We've got to have her write copy for our next products. Thanks again, Leanne! And go check out her show and website everyone, there's lots of great tips and info there.

Sorry for the delay in getting this up, the product launch & Fancy Food Show has been keeping us pretty busy

Fancy Food Show

Whew! I just got back from the Fancy Food Show (pictures to follow), and it was a blast. Exhausting and invigorating at the same time, I finally got to meet a lot of people I'd only spoken to on the phone, or in some cases just corresponded with via e-mail. It was great to put some names to faces there.

We also had several terrific meetings, and generated a book-load of new leads. I mean that literally - the real measure of success for this show will be determined over the next month, as we follow up on a the Rolodex of business cards and hastily scribbled notes that represented the essential "product" of the show for us. It was all we really had to show for around $4,000 and a whole week of our time. You wouldn't believe how scary it is to fly back to Miami with that little black book burning a hole in your backpack!

The highlight of the show was definitely the new Light Mac & Cheese which we launched there. Very popular, far exceeding expectations. On the first day we actually ran out of forks, and ended up raiding the concession stands! ("Yeah, I'll have a large coffee and, uh, 200 forks please"). Everyone seemed to love it, even towards the end of the day, when it had been sitting out on a heating sterno for about 8 hours. Now that's good pasta!

Now that the FFS is over, we're officially launching it up on our website. Go check it out!

O Canada!

Constant improvement, that's the name of the website game! Here's the latest:

  • Revamped Build Your Own Box section, giving you total flexibility over how many short-cut and nest packages you want to order.
  • Cheap $5.99 flat-shipping in the continental US (don't worry, we cut the prices to compensate for the change.)
  • Shipping to Canada (by USPS) for all orders, for just $20 more than in the US!

There's also some minor changes all around, for instance on the Technology, Store List, Gift Basket pages. Check them out!
